In the middle of Tuscany and in the heart of one of the most important design and production districts, renowed for its excellence in Made in Italy luxury clothing, footwear and accessories.
Pontedera is a medium-sized town in Tuscany.
City symbol of the icon of Italian Design, located between the Florence and Pisa, it is immersed in a context of industrial areas where design, innovation, new technologies and Made in Italy heritage go hand in hand, influencing each other.
Why choosing to study here and not in a big city? Here are some good reasons:
1. Heritage: Made in Italy design
Istituto Modartech is located in the heart of the Diffused Training Centre for Creative Disciplines in Pontedera, in the former Piaggio industrial spaces which in the 1940s saw the birth of the Italian design icon known throughout the world: the Vespa.
In this context, collaborations and projects are carried on with some excellences such as the Piaggio Foundation, the Giovanni Gronchi Library and the BioRobotics Institute of the Sant’Anna in Pisa (University of Pisa) in the name of innovation, culture and research.
2. Collaboration and closeness to the most important fashion districts
Studying at Istituto Modartech means living in close contact with Italian design studios as well as with international brands working with local manifactures in this area.
A unique reality in Italy, because Pontedera is located at the crossroads of industrial areas specialized in different sectors of luxury clothing, footwear and accessories production: from the leather district of Santa Croce sull’Arno to the textile and clothing ones of Empoli, from the textile district of Prato to the Scandicci leather goods district.
Our students have the opportunity to discover both artisan and industrial productions as well as Fashion and Luxury products and their features: from sustainability to craftsmanship, from handmade to technological innovation.
3. Industry 4.0: an innovative and constantly developing hub
The Pontedera industrial center is increasingly becoming an innovation and research center for industry 4.0, thanks to the excellence of the Biorobotics Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, a reference point in Italy and abroad for research, experimentation and technological, scientific and robotic innovation.
The partnership between Modartech and the Biorobotics Institute has allowed the development of projects for the development of wearable technologies, clothing or accessories with a very high innovative content.
Students are involved in this direct dialogue with engineers to discover the world of Wearable Technologies design in different areas (sportswear, recreational and medical) and its communication.
Focus also on the “Arno Valley” which sees universities, institutions and companies operating in the web, IT and research sectors.
4. Strategic position
Pontedera is located exactly in the center of Tuscany, 15 minutes by train from Pisa and 30 minutes from Florence, strategically connected with the rest of Italy thanks to the international airports of Pisa and Florence.
In Pontedera the headquarters of Istituto Modartech is easily accessible because it is a few meters from the railway station.
It is a reality just a few minutes from the Tuscan cities and a few hours of flight from the main Italian and foreign cities.
5. Sustainability
The geographical location outside large cities, the possibility of living in a context where there is no need for large financial resources (starting from the cost of housing) and the facilitated social relationships, represent a sustainable choicewhere it becomes simple as well as reassuring, also for a boy from other regions, acclimatise and fully experience the dynamics of a high academic education institution.
Therefore being able to concentrate all the attention on one’s own didactic and professional path.
In this context, Pontedera and the Istituto Modartech offer a unique training experience, placing the student, his talent and his attitudes at the center. In a growth not only professional but also personal.
