Sofia Marzoli finalist at Mittelmoda

A Modartech student is among the finalists in the prestigious international Mittelmoda competition.

On September 16th, during Micam—an important industry fair in Milan—the 30th edition of Mittelmoda – The Fashion Award will take place. This prestigious fashion competition is reserved for emerging designers from fashion schools and academies around the world.

With over 500 applications received, 26 finalists have been selected, including Sofia Marzoli, a student from the Fashion Design program. Her collection, “Welcome to My Carnival,” impressed a jury of industry experts and professionals.

Sofia’s capsule collection draws inspiration from Italy’s first carnival, the Carnival of Fano, and the satire of James Ensor to address the theme of alienation in modern society. The silhouettes are inspired by the costumes and volumes of circus and carnival characters. The collection features prints with political caricatures that depict people trapped in roles they did not choose. Fabrics and colors evoke formal office wear, creating a contrast with the circus theme to highlight the dichotomy between professional facade and inner alienation.
