Modartech for Freudenberg

A contest to underline how sustainability and creativity can go hand in hand

The Fashioning Sustainability contest, organized by Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel and partners, is an international, creative and educational event dedicated to young students of European Fashion and Design schools, focused on sustainability as a key element of innovation. The project offered students the opportunity to create an outfit capable of combining fashion trends with sustainability, using an ecological interlining from Freudenberg.

From the degree course in Fashion Design of Istituto Modartech, two students are have reached the final stage:

Sara De Santis with “Schwarzwald, a project that explores the use of nettle fibre, with zero environmental impact, a valid ecological alternative to cotton.

Ilaria De Martino with “Denimized Koi”, a project inspired by Japanese culture and the dualism of yin and yang, which uses scraps of recycled fabric and accessories, giving them new life and creating graphic motifs using the laser cutting technique. The first prize in the Design Award section was awarded to her by a jury made up of representatives of important brands such as Freudenberg, Armani, Dolce&Gabbana, Area NYC, Tod’s, Caruso, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Hugo Boss, Martin Margiela and Asahi Kasei.
