Former student of the Fashion Technology course, tells us about her journey into the world of fashion.
Working in the fashion system in prestigious fashion houses is the dream of many young people. However, passion, creativity and talent are not enough to guarantee a career in this sector. An ad hoc training course is essential in order to acquire specialized technical skills.
Let’s discover together the experience of Martina Chifenti in the fashion world, former student of the Fashion Technology course.
1. Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Martina, I’m 25 and I’m from Lucca, but I’m currently living in Modena where I work at Giorgio Armani Operations. In November 2017 I graduated from the Istituto Modartech, where I attended the Fashion Technology course.
My experience at GAOperations began in August when Modartech offered me a curricular internship in the Product Office of the Emporio Uomo line.
From January I was hired and at the moment I work on the Armani Exchange Donna line, always within the Product Office.
My job is to follow the development of the product from research, to defectiveness, up to the launch of the sample collection. I work closely with designers and graphic designers of the Style Office, to launch tests at suppliers, choose materials or printing techniques.
2. What led you to the Istituto Modartech and why did you choose it?
When I decided to undertake a course of study that could fit into the world of fashion, I looked for a course that offered me not only theoretical but also practical knowledge and skills.
To date, once my experience is over, I can say that Modartech has fully met my expectations.
The professionalism of the teachers and the continuous stimuli allowed me to deepen my passions and learn new things and prepare myself for the world of work.
3. What advice would you give to those who want to pursue a career like yours?
The world of fashion is certainly exciting, but every day new challenges are launched, it puts you in front of choices, for example considering a transfer, as in my case. All these opportunities, if faced with humility, determination and a great desire to get involved, pay off with many satisfactions.
To those who, like me, are at the beginning, I advise you to always follow your passions and ambitions and to be curious, because every day there is something new to learn and limits you can overcome! Good luck to all!
